Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day- Speak!

Martin Luther King, Jr.

"SPEAK!"

"Speak!"

Last year, I was researching quotes for posting on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and found the second quote posted above in the infographic. It has since become my go-to reminder of how dangerous ignorance and stupidity can really be. The first quote above reminds us that silence can not always be the best approach.

When the world seems to be upside down, what are we supposed to do?

This is being pinned on Sunday, January 18, 2026, the day before we celebrate Dr. King's Day.

I have not been to church in a while because I work on most Sundays like many other Americans who work more than 40 hours a week to make ends meet. Many Americans have two and three jobs.

I went into a church for the first time in a while and went in and prayed before their congregation or service started. My heart is heavy for personal reasons, but I was compelled because of all that is going on in this world. I just stopped in and prayed. I cried. Prayed. And left!

I believe those of us who would normally be screaming from the rooftops, and who have been silent, can no longer.

Too much is going on. God is pushing us to speak.

Speak! Speak!

Yes, speak!

I am tired of hard work not mounting up to my dreams, being fulfilled. I am tired of seeing those who deserve the best get less. I am tired of watching students who work hard every day not receive the best that education has to offer. Not because the teachers do not teach, but because policies do not always allow the teachers to do what is best for the scholars.

Or is it politics?!

I am tired of politicians who mean well but do not do well.

It is not just what you say.

Yes, speak!

It is your actions.

It is the follow-through.

It is not just about what the world has to offer you, but, gosh darn it, what do you have to offer it?

Broken promises.

Lost hope.

Hatred.

Envy.

That is not what we need in this world.

We need conscientious will and ignorance that prompts one to research and action.

Not actions to harm others but of good.

God's will!

Now, you do not even have to leave your home or do all the hard work of research. You can use AI to do your research. You must fact-check it. But you do not have to do it the old school way. But knowing how to do the old school way is still important.

We, as Americans, need to remember that the past is the past for a reason. We need to remember that we are to learn from our past and failures and not repeat them. Dr. King, Jr. was wise beyond measure. Sometimes I just read his quotes just because. I think about how many years he has been gone.

How far we have come.

And how far we have not.

Why have my dreams deferred?

Why are so many around the world hurting?

Let's move forward. We can not remain in darkness. We must find the light. The light is in Christ Jesus.

Not in hatred. Not in envy. Not in jealousy. Not in mean spirited.

Not in conceinceous stupitidity and sincere ingorance. Martin told us a long time ago that it is dangerous.

Yes, it is!

Speak, gonsh darn it!

Speaking is not always done through words out of one's mouth. It is in actions.

If someone loves you agape, they do not hurt you.

If someone says they love you, they do not do mean things to you. They do not stop your success. They help to spark success in you. Unless being successful harms you or others. Then and only then should your success be stopped.

If someone says that they are proud of you one day, they do not go behind your back to harm you the next day.

Are your words good or evil?

Let your actions be your words.

Now speak!
