In 2012, I had much anticipation for my daughter when she graduated from Perry Hall High School in Perry Hall, Maryland a Baltimore County Public School. She was accepted in to Syracuse University and received the Presidential Scholarship. I was so happy and proud.

In her second year at Syracuse University, I lost my job with the State of Maryland Department of Commerce. I was nervous she would not be able to complete her education and graduate. We was homeless for a while. I moved to Houston, Texas while she finished her education.

For three of her four years at Syracuse, I was homeless, which meant she was homeless outside of her school address. But she pushed forward and graduated on time. She landed a job for Teach for America and they brought her back to Baltimore, Maryland as a Math Teacher in Baltimore City Schools. While teaching she completed her Master's in Education from John Hopkins University

I am a proud mamma!

I finally got a steady job and my own apartment. She lived with one of my sisters in Maryland and I in Texas. When she got married during #covid and purchased her first home.

I remember she saying to me, "mom, I am going to back to school and get my social work degree and give notice to the school district."

I thought to myself, "is she crazy?!"

Don't you remember we was homeless. Don't you remember the days we spent in the car and bathing in a public bathroom. Why are you not going to keep that job? She said mom, "I have a passion to help others who is going through what we went through."

Under my breath, I am thinking. "can't you do that by volunteering." Honestly, I think I may have said that out loud to her. Just maybe, I did!

But I was supportive of my child's decision.
As we must do in order for them to Fly with the Eagles.
We want our babies to soar.

This degree is going to help her to get to her desired goal.

Baby, I am so proud of you. You give me inspiration. You helped me renew my faith that "All Things Are Possible Through Christ Jesus." And for that, I thank you!

You did it. You finished the social work Master's in the time allotted with just one A- on your transcript from the University of  Maryland Baltimore, I am so proud of you!

Continue to allow Jesus to lead your path. You are one of His lights.

Keep shinning and flying! You were built to do so.
